Who is the course for?

Junior Officers and crew who are involved in tanker operations on board, to further their understanding of operating procedures, safety and associated documentation and/or checklists.

Is previous experience required?

This course requires no previous experience to complete.

This course will give learners an awareness of the safety considerations for tanker operations.

• The International Safety Management (ISM) Code

• The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF)

• The International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL)

• The Oil Pollution Act 1990 (OPA90) for operating in US waters

• International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW)

• International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals (ISGOTT)

• The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)

Is there an assessment?

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.
