Who is this course for:

Every seafarer with designated security duties onboard. This course is for those who are appointed to fulfil security duties, including anti-piracy and anti-armed robbery related activities on board a ship in accordance with the ship security plan.

 

Is previous experience required?

No previous experience is required to complete this course.

 

How will this course benefit me?

By ensuring that you have achieved the  training requirements set out by the STCW Code.  This course will ensure that you are certified according to STCW A-VI/6-2.

 

How will this course benefit my company?

By ensuring you have the knowledge and are certified according to the STCW regulations.

Is there an assessment?

The exam includes questions on the theory aspects covered during the initial eLearning AND the activities completed during the onboard assessment. You should not attempt the exam until you have completed both aspects of the training.

 

Certificate:

When the training is completed a certificate is issued by the Norwegian Maritime Authority.

The Norwegian Maritime Authority charge an additional fee to issue the formal STCW Certificate.

Ship Officers

 

Is previous experience required?

Documented 12 months seaservice as an officer onboard an ISPS vessel. 

 

How will this course benefit me?

After successfully completing this course, you should be able to undertake the duties and responsibilities of a Ship Security Officer, as defined in section A/12.2 of the ISPS Code and in section A-VI/5 of the STCW Code. The course enables you to maintain and supervise the implementation of the Ship Security Plan, evaluate the security risk, threat and vulnerability, make regular inspections to ensure that appropriate safeguards are implemented and maintained, and ensure that the security systems are operated, tested and calibrated correctly.

 

How will this course benefit my company?

By ensuring you are qualified and certified as a Ship Security Officer (SSO).

 

What standards are referred to in this course?

STCW A-VI/5 and ISPS code section A/12.2.

This course aims to enhance the capabilities of shipboard personnel who sail on ships using LFF (low flashpoint fuel) as propulsion energy. It focuses on the responsibilities of all personnel serving on these kinds of ships. The course is developed in accordance with IMO model course 7:13.

1st January 2017 the IGF Code was made mandatory and STCW now includes new minimum requirements for the training and qualifications of personnel on ships subject to the IGF Code. This training program has been approved by the Norwegian Maritime Authority. The training consists of an e-learning course, practical assessment at a facility center and a classroom exam. When the training is completed a course diploma is issued. 

The practical training takes place at facilities located in various parts of Norway and abroad. Please choose the most convenient training for yourself or your employees.
