• Expliquer le rôle de l'autorité de réglementation 

• Définir les termes « aspect » et « impact » dans le contexte écologique 

• Identifier les impacts sur l'environnement des rejets de forage, des émissions atmosphériques, des eaux produites et autres rejets provenant du pétrole, des déversements, des rejets de produits chimiques, des déchets, du bruit et des perturbations des fonds marins 

• Décrire les manières de limiter l'impact sur l'environnement, et

• Expliquer que tout le monde a un rôle à jouer dans la protection de l'environnement et savoir de quelle manière remplir ce rôle

Course Goal: 

This course aims to provide an awareness of US best practice in relation to working with Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM).

Learning Objectives:

LO1 Define what is meant by NORM and where it is found

LO2 Explain what is meant by ‘radioactive material’ and the difference between alpha particles, beta particles and gamma rays

LO3 Describe the hazards associated with NORM

LO4 Identify the pathways for exposure to NORM

LO5 Identify the radiation protection principles

LO6 Explain the importance of radiation monitoring

LO7 Identify control measures that can be used to minimize the risk posed by NORM

LO8 Describe the PPE that should be used when working with NORM

LO9 Explain how to limit decontamination and correctly dispose of NORM
