Who is the course for?

This eLearning course is aimed at individuals who work offshore, in any role, anywhere in the world.

 

Is previous experience required?

The course is designed for existing workers in the oil and gas industry. Completion of this course awards an IMIST certificate valid for four years, after which you will need to sit the course again to refresh your knowledge and earn a new certificate.

 

How will the course benefit me?

The offshore working environment is home to many hazards, which means that it is vital for everyone who goes offshore to have the same baseline level of safety knowledge. This course has been created with OPITO to set a global safety standard by applying a consistent level of safety awareness across nine safety critical areas and is applicable .

 

The knowledge gained in this course will help you to stay safe in your day-to-day activities offshore. It will also outline some of the systems and procedures in place to manage everyday operations offshore.

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 100%. 

The course starts with an optional pre-assessment that checks your existing knowledge of the course topics. The course will restructure so that it only contains the content needed to address the gaps in your knowledge.

This training course aims at providing a general description of the requirements for the prevention of pollution by sewage from ships as defined by the Annex IV of the MARPOL Convention.

Objectives

A Certificate of MARPOL Sewage Pollution, issued by Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore.

The Certificate of MARPOL Sewage Pollution is obtained after completion of the course and passing the online test.
