This course is designed to provide electrical professionals with the essential foundational knowledge required for working in explosive atmospheres (Ex areas), in accordance with applicable Norwegian and international requirements.

The course is structured according to EX-KOMP:2021 and covers the key standards, regulations, and practical skills needed to work safely and in compliance within Ex areas.

The course provides the necessary foundational knowledge for working according to FEK and EX-KOMP and can be included as documented training in the company’s competence matrix.

This course is made for personnel who organize or perform: planning, installation, inspection and maintenance of Ex equipment.

The course gives an introduction and repetition in different subjects treated in the IEC 60079 Standard (NEK EN 60079).

The course duration is 5 hours and is valid for 5 years

The course can also be taken as a refresher course for Ex maintenance

Is there an assessment?

The exam includes questions on the theory aspects covered during the initial eLearning AND the activities completed during the onboard assessment. You should not attempt the exam until you have completed both aspects of the training.

Certificate: 

When the training is completed, a certificate is issued by the Norwegian Maritime Authority.

The Norwegian Maritime Authority charge an additional fee to issue the formal STCW Certificate.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In a risk assessment,  potential events and consequences are considered. In this course, we focus on unwanted events such as failures and accidents. This could be, for example, a gas leak or afire at an oil platform, that equipment stops working during an operation in a hospital, or that an accident occurs during the execution of a work task. The risk analysis process consists of three phases:

1) Planning

2) Risk assessment

3) Risk management

This course shows how these phases can be planned and implemented in practice. There are many guidelines and standards on how a risk assessmentcan be carried out, and many are adapted to particular industries and professional areas. This course presents a general approach that can be used in most industries.

•Introduction:What is risk? What is the purpose of a risk assessments?

•Risk assessment and risk management:Description of the steps in a risk assessment, what is important to look out for in the various steps, and how the risk assessment can be applied in risk management.

•Risk analysis methods:There are numerous risk assessment methods that are suitable for looking at different issues. Is there an assessment?

Section 7 of the “Safety Regulations for Work and Operation of Electrical Equipment and Installations” (FSE) sets requirements for yearly FSE training for relevant personnel. This e-learning course takes you through the requirements of the regulations and gives you training and instruction in FSE. The course focuses on safety for work on low voltage installations offshore.

The course also provides first-aid instruction and training. CPR training must be completed separately.

In accordance with section 7 of FSE, FSE and and first-aid training must be completed at least once a year. In order to meet the requirement for being able to provide first aid in the event of electrical accidents, you also need to complete yearly practical training in CPR (mouth-to-mouth and heart compressions).

This course addresses a variety of issues and covers how to prevent electrical accidents, routines in the event of accidents, and theoretical first aid, and aims to help prevent harm to people, equipment, and installations.

This training course aims at providing a general description of the requirements for the prevention of pollution by sewage from ships as defined by the Annex IV of the MARPOL Convention.

A Certificate of MARPOL Sewage Pollution, issued by Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore.

The Certificate of MARPOL Sewage Pollution is obtained after completion of the course and passing the online test.
